3 cups cake flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
6 eggs, separated
1 cup sour cream
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Sift together first 4 ingredients.
Cream butter and shortening until smooth.
Add sugar gradually, mixing well.
Add yolks, one at a time.
Continue beating until very creamy.
Add dry ingredients gradually to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream.
Beat egg whites until they hold stiff peaks.
Carefully fold into batter, one-third at a time.
Spoon into greased and floured tube pan.
Bake 1 1/2 hours.
Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then remove and finish cooling.
